Since Latvia experiences sharp temperature fluctuations during certain periods of the year (especially in spring and autumn, when days are warm and nights drop below freezing), water condensation can form in unheated spaces, including outdoor structures like mailbox units. To address this, each section of the PD91_ series mailbox unit is fitted with a simple plastic mesh designed to protect mail from direct contact with the bottom of the mailbox, which is a potential condensation risk zone. A major downside to this mesh is that it takes up half the mailbox space because it tends to curl back into its roll shape; consequently, in most cases, it gets thrown away because it makes using the mailbox inconvenient. As a result, the separating layer between the mailbox floor and the mail is lost, and if condensation forms, the mail can become damp and stick to the metal floor.
The 3D plastic grate is designed with drainage channels at the bottom and a small-meshed surface on top for easy insertion and retrieval of mail. Furthermore, the 3D plastic grate is flat and fits completely flush against the floor of the mailbox.
